A package arrived in the post this week from my Mum, containing the errant new Made By Ewe creation, which I left at her house by mistake.
Say hello to Owl!
I’m designing a new knitting kit and this is the prototype. Actually this is about the 4th prototype, and she has been unpicked and reknitted several times, but I think this is the final version.
I had several different attempts at making nice owl eyes, that didn’t make her look like a zombie, all staring and scary. I tried buttons, different knitting ideas and considered felt eyes, but I like these ones the best.
And the wings fold round her body just right to cuddle a little baby owl.
Cheep Cheep!
I’m now knitting up a final version and checking the pattern – it’s driving me mad as usual, especially as I am in the middle of moving office in the house. We spent the weekend carrying boxes, sofas, boxes, books, boxes, cupboards and oh – did I mention the boxes? – up and down and up and down stairs. Also had the joy of rewiring the phone system: Husband ( crammed into roof space) “How does it sound now?” Me: (yelling up the stairs) “Crackly…….fine…….bit crackly………crackly (repeat for 45 minutes)
Needless to say, various little knitted wings, beaks and eyes have disappeared amongst the – yes, you’ve guessed it – BOXES – so will have to be reknitted. That is, when I can find the yarn!
Hopefully other crafty people have been having a more relaxing time over on Handmade Monday
Loving the owl… the pink and grey mix on the chest is superb and adds an extra dimension to the texture.
A mummy and a baby owl how cute – they’re lovely. I’m glad you went for the knitted eyes I think they have a softer effect than perhaps the felt or the buttons. I’m in awe of you being able to write a pattern for this.
Owls are so in atm, love your little creation
I love them – love anything Owl related – they’re beautiful!
Thank you, that’s very kind of you
Linda
I love the owl and the little baby being hugged is just the sweetest idea. I love the texture of the owls tummy you always come up with such interesting stitches in your patterns I have learnt so much since I started buying your kits. I cannot wait for this one to be in the shop.

thank you as always – hopefully it won’t be too long before everything is ready
That is really cute, I love the colours, pink goes so well with grey (i also love pink and brown together). That’s going to be very popular i’m sure. x
Cutie Pie owls – Soooooo pretty!
Aaah, definitely well worth the wait – he (she?) is lovely.
Aaawwww really cute, I love the huggableness (ok, it’s not a real word but I like it anyway) of the owl and baby picture.

Huggableness is a great word in my book!
Bonus! A baby owl. Love them both.
These are so delightful! Having tried to devise and write patterns I know how immensely time consuming it is so I’m in awe of your tenacity in the face of all the other stuff going on!
Well, its been worth all the ‘reworking’ the final prototype is perfect. The eyes just right … very two-wit-two-wooey.
That is the cutest owl I have seen and an added bonus of the little baby owl – gorgeous.
OMG… how cute. So super super cute. This guy is going to be a hit!
Lol I have to tell you, it sounds like you’re house has been like my house as I’m also rearranging (because of the roof leak). Mine is still in disarray because I don’t seem to be able to get it done. Seems to be never ending, altho I’m sure there IS an end to it. *sigh*
I love your little owl tho. Ver adorable.
Oh gee, I can’t believe I spelled your as you’re. I’m going to blame the house disarray for it. 🙂
Oh how absolutely gorgeous! I just loved her and then you introduced her baby too! Adorable!
